The air conditioning in our first room did not work. The staff switched us to room 105, with working air conditioning. The bathroom is the weak point in this class of property. The shower head is caked with lime and the shower tile/grout is dirty and could use replacing. We knew going in that it's a "cheap & cheerful" type of property. The Pelicano Inn's proximity to beach and the amenities of the region were our main draw.
The reason we went Feb 6-13 was because I was told that was the only time in Feb. that we could get the lower level beach front rooms. When we got there Mario said they were booked and the voucher just said ocean front rooms. They gave us 201 and 202 beachfront upper level. The next day Mario let us move one party into one lower level room. Then on Saturday we moved into rm. 102 lower level so our party had 3 nights on the lower level beach front together. Difficult with only Mario speaking good english at the front desk. When we asked how this can be avoided the next time he gave us his card and told us to email him directly (of course that info came with a tip!!) They have some new umbrellas for the beach but get mad if you get more then one. The Pelicano has great beach front and we would stay there again if we go back to Playa. The Hotel Fusion plays loud music at night in their bar and even though you can hear it somewhat at the Pelicano it was ok.
