The "Hotel Rating System" is a client centered service.
Customer review forms are sent to every returning client from the El Taj, these are then complied by Reservation ID and offered to you the future traveler for review. The rating of the Hotel and the Service Rating of Worldlinks.com are "unaltered" by management. What you see is exactly what other clients are saying about us and the El Taj.

We were book for a room at the El Taj Ocean. When we arrived the condos were not completed. They were still under construction. The staff moved us to Porta Playa. We were very disappointed as this property was not new and was not on the water. Additionally, the unit that the moved us too had a roof top area. This area was nice, but was undergoing renovation the first and second day of our trip and was not usable and loud.
Overall I felt deceived. We booked this condo one week before our trip. The construction was not close to completion. Someone had to know they were booking a unit that would not be available.

Re: #'s 3,4 and 6 -
Attention Ms. Eti Krance;
Eti - on Monday 16 November, I had already sent you and e-mail, but still have not seen a reply? Basically this is what I had said; Upon arrival, we were switched from the El Taj to Mayan villas, as apparently there was still ongoing construction noise at the El Taj? We liked Mayan Villas, but noted that there was also construction going on next door, but only during the day, at least from Sun., 08 November through Wed., 11 November.
On Thurs., eve, 12 November the noisy construction (chain saws, drills, hammering, all very loud) carried on to well past 4:00 a.m.. We called "Anna" at the front desk, and she said she would take care of it. Unfortunately she was unsuccessful, and we had no sleep. We then again called the front office the next morning, and spoke with "Andris." He said that he would take care of it and it should not be a further problem? However, on Fri., eve, 13 November, it started all over again! We again called "Anna" at the front desk, and she dispatched the Property Manager (an Anglo, whose name I believe was "Schmidt," or something similar.) He was sympathetic, but said there was nothing he could do, except perhaps give us a free extra night or two? Well, that would not work as we were to leave the next day? We then requested that Thurs. and Fri., Nov., 12-13 be refunded? He said he would see what he could do? We have heard nothing since? We again received no sleep the second night at the noise continued until
4:00 a.m., or so?
Eti, this was our HONEYMOON AND VACATION, and while we liked the Mayan Villas, we feel that being denied two nights sleep, while paying $350.00 per night, is unacceptable! We enjoyed the Playa del Carmen area, Chechen Itza, Xel-Ha and the Mayan people, but we have a "bad taste in our mouths," for events the past two days due to no sleep! This
was supposed to be RESTFULL!
Dr. Nancy Duke Stackhouse and I are again requesting a refund for the two nights of no sleep! We would appreciate a credit of $700.00 to my American Express card number
that this reservation was billed and paid for on?

NOTE: The EL TAJ, although a well thought out property has some major issues. I DO NOT SUGGEST you book the property until the construction across the street is at least partially finished, foundation complete at the least. The noise level ..OMG..(Jack hammers, pile drivers, saws, hammering, etc.) from 8am to 5pm was TERRIBLE, we couldn't evan sit at the beautiful pool or out on our balcony without getting a headache as the construction site was @ 20' away. There was NO Peace & Quiet!!!
My husband & I have a construction & design firm and vacationed at the EL TAJ to get away from exactly THAT and were quite dissapointed at the outcome. As well, our private hot tub was broken for the duration of our stay and there was a lovely scent of URINE coming from the kitchen sink area for 7 days...We were truly not impressed. The staff, however was wonderful. They ALL tried there best to overcome each and every situation, typically to no avail. All in all, if we were to return to the villa it would solely be due to the exuberance and hospitality offered by the staff.

Very nice stay. Service and condo was all that we expected. Right across from the beach, could not have asked for more (-:
