Amorino Mexico Brings Authentic Gelato to Playa del Carmen
Finding the right place to open the first Amorino Mexico store in this country wasn’t easy.
Mexico is a large and vibrant country divided into 32 different states.
Moreover, there are many large, cosmopolitan cities such as Mexico City, Guadalajara, Monterrey or even Tijuana that would likely be a good fit for a company looking to sell upscale gelato.
But having studied the market, Amorino Mexico investors made a decision.
The first Amorino in Mexico would open in Playa del Carmen.
This past Saturday, on February 11, they did exactly that.
According to General Director Christopher Roland, it has everything to do with Playa del Carmen’s cosmopolitan flair and position in the tourism industry.
“This is the first Amorino in Mexico,” he explains.
“After looking for the ideal city to open our first store, we chose Playa del Carmen for its positioning not just in Mexico but worldwide.”
The History of Amorino: Gelato Goes Gourmet
15 years ago, two Italians living in France came to a realization that would change their lives.
Cristiano Sereni and Paolo Benassi, who had known each other since childhood, couldn’t find quality gelato like the kind you could get back home.
Rather than sit around and complain, in 2002 they did something about it.
And so, on Ile St. Louis in the heart of Paris, Amorino was born.
Their passion and dedication proved to be a major success.
As a result, Amorino began an international expansion which has already witnessed the opening of Amorino stores in Europe, Asia, the United States, and now, Playa del Carmen, Mexico.
Gelato al Naturale in Playa del Carmen
Amorino is much more than a gelato store.
And now it’s the latest addition to the Playa del Carmen culinary scene.
According to founder Paolo Benassi, Amorino’s objective is, “to make the highest quality gelato as naturally as possible with no artificial colors or flavorings.”
In fact, there is a rigorous process involved in the selection of the ingredients used in each flavor of gelato and sorbet.
“The most important aspect of our products is the ingredients that go in them,” says Christopher Roland.
“Each ingredient comes from some place special.”
“For instance, the vanilla comes from Madagascar and the hazelnut from Italy.”
“Following an exhaustive search for the best coffee you can find,” he continues, “and we chose coffee from Veracruz, Mexico.”
“Amorino only uses the best ingredients in the world.”
Amorino Playa del Carmen
Amorino serves up 32 different delicious flavors of gelato and sorbets.
What makes the gelato here is so unique, however, are not just the ingredients.
The gelato is served in the form of a rose, and each petal can be a different flavor.
In addition, you can also order your gelato with a waffle, a crepe, and even gelato-filled macarons.
Coffee, frappes and sorbet drinks complement the menu, which means there’s a pretty sweet treat for almost anyone.
