*Please note at the time of writing this blog (September 2020), the world is still in the midst of a pandemic. All of the beach clubs listed here have each taken preventative action to enhance their already strict health and safety protocols to help keep you safe. You will see serving staff wearing face masks and regular sanitizing of menus, tables, and chairs across Playa del Carmen’s large range of bars, restaurants, and beach clubs.Β
1. Inti Beach
Inti Beach is the ying to the yang of other Playa del Carmen beach clubs.
While all others generally tend to present a festive vibe and loud music to draw in the crowds, this holistic center/beach club goes introspective, offering up a true tropical chill.
It’s a great place to sit back, relax, enjoys some quality food and drinks, and why not, meditate to the sounds of the waves slowly crashing against the shore.
They also offer yoga classes, massages, and morning SUP lessons.
What’s not to love?
It can be a little on the pricey side if you are ballin’ on a budget but trust me, it’s worth it.

Music style: Mantras and world music
Live music: Special events
Address: Beach between 4th & 6th Streets
Cost: Minimum consumption is between $300 & $500 pesos per person depending on the season
2.Β Mamitas Beach Club
A legendary Playa del Carmen beach club whose name is closely associated with the destination itself.
Mamitas Beach Club is generally packed almost any day of the week, especially in high season.
It’s located on the main beach in Playa del Carmen close to hotels such as The Hilton Playa del Carmen and Panama Jacks.
It’s definitely a party atmosphere, especially when they host live events.
Most of the time that tends to be electronic music.
The food is good, the beach is great, and the atmosphere is lively. Party on.
I highly recommend the ceviche and guac. Que rico!
Although I will say service isn’t all that great here in my experience but if you’re not too fussed about that you should have a good time.
Open: Mon.-Sun., 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Music style: Mostly electronic
Live music: Special events
Address: 28th Street and Beach
Cost: $500 peso minimum comes with two loungers and $300 pesos in credit
3.Β SeΓ±or Frogs
This iconic family restaurant is one of the most well-positioned brands in the Mexican Caribbean.
They have achieved such a lofty goal by consistently branding their restaurants and marketing their souvenirs.
In fact, alongside the Mexican sombrero the SeΓ±or Frogs t-shirts and oversized plastic beer glasses called “The Yard” may be some of the most solicited souvenirs of all time.
Add to that some quality American-style food, a nice beach club, a party-like atmosphere, some green and/or red in the face Americans, and youβve got the recipe to success that is SeΓ±or Frogs.
Open: Mon.-Sun., 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 a.m.
Music style: Rock
Live music: Daily
Address: Ferry terminal to Cozumel (UPDATE: there’s now even a Senor Frog on the heart of 5th Avenue, you can’t miss it, but it’s not beachfront)!
Cost: No minimum consumption; the average price for two people approx. 600-700 pesos for two meals, 2 beers, and 2 cocktails
4.Β Coralina Daylight Club
Coralina Daylight Club is located at the Grand Hyatt Playa del Carmen but is an independent beach club offering up the tropical vibes for a younger crowd.
They boast a large pool area overlooking the beach, so you’ll be able to enjoy the best of both worlds here.
This is a great location for the club scene to recover after an all-nighter of tropical revelry.
It also attracts the good-looking sort – so there’s that.
Definitely on the pricier side of beach clubs in the area.
Open: Mon.-Sun., 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Music style: Electronic
Live music: Only DJs
Address: 26th Street and Beach
5. Zenzi Beach Bar
An icon of the Playa del Carmen nightlife scene and a great place to enjoy a stylish atmosphere overlooking the Caribbean Sea, Zenzi Beach Bar offers live music every day of the week.
With an array of different styles, they pretty much have something for all musical taste buds. And speaking of taste buds, the food’s pretty tasty, too!
There are 2Β bands every night, the first at 5:00 p.m. and the second at 9:00 p.m. Here’s their schedule:

Live music: Daily
Address: Calle 10 Norte and Beach
Cost: No minimum consumption; the average price for two people approx. 600-700 pesos for two meals, 2 beers, and 2 cocktails
6. Coronel Records
Coronel Records (previously Coco Maya) has a privileged beachfront property right off 12th street and serves up an eclectic mix of food and music.
With Mayan-inspired architecture, a spacious venue for larger concerts, a different genre each night, and frequent special events, Coronel Records Playa is a great place to kick off the sandals and sway to the groove.
Popular at New Years’ Eve, Halloween, and other major yearly events.
Things can get pretty crazy up in here so if you like to party, then maybe this is the place for you.
Note: Due to erosion, Coronel Records is currently a beach club sans beach.
Open: Mon.-Sun., 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. – 2:00 a.m.
Music style: Diverse
Live music: Special events
Address: 12th Street and 1st Avenue
Cost: No minimum consumption; the average price for two people approx. 500-600 pesos for two meals, 2 beers, and 2 cocktails
7. Martina Beach Club
A new beach club has come to the white sand oasis of Playa del Carmen.
Known as Martina Beach Club, this club is trying to compete against the more established places such as Diablito Cha Cha Cha and Mamita’s.
Reviews haven’t been too friendly to this place, and it does offer more of the same in terms of music and ambiance than all the others.
However, I did visit in an evening recently and really enjoy the sand between my toes as I danced the night away.
My advice? Forget the reviews and try this place for yourself because I really enjoyed it. Albeit it is on the pricey side.
Open: Mon.-Sun., 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
Music style: Electronic
Live music: Only DJs
Address: 44th Street and Beach
Cost: Did not respond to our requests
8.Β Lido Beach Bar & Restaurant
What Lido Beach Club lacks in size it makes up for in ambiance and vibe.
The food is great, the drinks are good and you getΒ A LOT of bang for your buck.
This place is up there in my personal favorites.
This small little beach club is a cool place to grab a drink or a bite to eat while at the beach without having to break the bank or be overwhelmed by the monotone sounds of electronic music.
Nice people, good food, cold drinks, and some spectacular views.
What more would you want from a beach club?
Open: Mon.-Sun., 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Music style: Whatever is being played
Live music: Occasional DJs
Address: 10th Street and Beach
Cost: No minimum consumption; the average price for two people approx. 500-600 pesos for two meals, 2 beers, and 2 cocktails!
9.Β Indigo Beach Club
Indigo Beach Club at the beautiful El Taj cond hotel is a nice, all-ages beach club located in the heart of downtown Playa del Carmen.
Β
This is a great spot to sit back, relax, and take in the cool Caribbean breeze while sipping on some delicious cocktails.
Unfortunately, beach erosion has seriously affected this area of Playa.
As a result, there is increasingly less beach and more club to this otherwise great spot for some good food and drinks overlooking the Caribbean Sea.
Open: Mon.-Sun., 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. (loungers only available to outside guests as of 11:00 a.m.)
Music style: Whatever’s being played
Live music: No
Address: 14th Street and Beach
Cost: $200 pesos per person for use of loungers to be used as credit; the average price for two people approx. 600-700 pesos for two meals, 2 beers, and 2 cocktails
10. Kool Beach Club
Kool Beach Club is located just to the south of Mamita’s Beach Club.
Think of it as the Hatfield and McCoy’s of Playa del Carmen beach clubs.
And much like the two bitterly rival families, there’s really not a big difference between the two in terms of view or music.
Mamita’s does win out in regards to space, music, and events. Otherwise, Kool Beach Club is a good option if Mamita’s is too full.
Open: Mon.-Sun., 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Music style: Mostly electronic
Live music: Special events
Address: 28th Street and Beach
Cost: $500 pesos minimum consumption; average price for two people approx. 600-700 pesos for two meals, 2 beers, and 2 cocktails
Note: At the time of this writing, seasonal and environmental factors have dealt a blow to certain stretches of beaches in Playa del Carmen. Some beach clubs are more affected than others. Erosion is particularly bad at the moment from about 6th Street down to Constituyentes.
