1. Why Choose an Indian Wedding in Mexico?
Planning an Indian wedding and wondering why Mexico is a good choice of destination?
Quite simply, it’s a stunningly beautiful part of the world with warm temperatures throughout the year.
Choosing a destination wedding in Mexico also means your guests get to meet in a completely new environment, so bonding is easier.
Planning is also less stressful than organizing a wedding at home because we’re here to help you every step of the way, and most resorts have wedding coordinators on hand to ensure everything runs smoothly during your event.
Plus…
You get more bang for your buck if you choose a wedding in Mexico instead of a wedding at home.
There’s an array of amazing locations where you can host your Indian wedding in Mexico.
The most popular destination on the west coast is Cabo San Lucas, with its famous landmarks such as “Lands End.”
This city is the place where the desert meets the sea and the mountains, and the landscape is stunning.
Other popular destinations in this part of Mexico include Huatulco and Puerto Vallarta.
The biggest resort on the east coast of Mexico is Cancun, where you’ll find many opportunities for dining, socializing, and shopping.
As you might expect, we love Playa Del Carmen.
It’s a lively and colorful destination where you and your wedding guests can spend time exploring the shops and restaurants of 5th Avenue.
Tulum is another beautiful location in the Riviera Maya with its gorgeous beaches and boho vibe.
What is the Best Month to Get Married in Mexico?
If you’re planning an Indian destination wedding, you want the weather to be good.
No one can guarantee full-on sunshine for your celebrations, but we can promise that Mexico is warm throughout the year.
The wettest time of the year is from June through October.
Although, it quite often only rains for an hour or two.
The driest time of the year is from November through April.
From personal experience, many of the couples we work with choose January and February for their celebrations.
Daytime temperatures are warm and still moderate in the evening.
Plus, you get to avoid popular times of the year, such as the Christmas and Easter holidays, and when the schools are on a break.

When you’re planning your celebrations, the Indian wedding in Mexico cost is vital.
You need to know what to expect and how far your budget will go.
Keep reading for a deeper dive into this.
How much does an Indian wedding cost in Cancun?
The precise cost of your destination wedding in Mexico depends on the resort you choose and the number of people on your guest list.
However, you can get an idea of the basic cost from the wedding packages available.
Packages that are popular with the couples we work with range from around $7,500 to $16,000.
You then need to add extra costs, such as additional guests, customization, and external vendors.
It’s not unusual to pay upwards of $50,000 for a wedding with hundreds of guests.
We’ll help you create a personal celebration that’s a good fit for your budget and that’s a lower cost than the average $80,000-$100,000 paid for an Indian wedding in the US.

5. What Should You Wear for an Indian Wedding in Mexico?
Wondering what to wear for an Indian wedding in Mexico?
Based on our experience with wedding couples and their guests, I’ve got some top suggestions for you.
I’ll start with some inspiration for the bride on her big day.
When it comes to colors for Indian bridal outfits, red is the go-to choice for many Indian brides.
But other shades work well, as seen in this pink, white, and gold combination…
Other colors that destination brides are considering right now include aqua blue, sunflower yellow, flesh tones, and ash gray.
Metallic colors are also on trend.
When choosing the materials for your wedding outfits, take into account the warm and humid conditions.
I’d suggest fabrics such as:
- Linen
- Cotton
- Organza
- Muslin
- Khadi
Traditional sarees and lehengas look stunning on brides regardless of which shades, tones, and materials you choose.
You can change them up with the addition of a crop top during the celebrations.
I also love some of the recent trends you might want to check out, such as metallic lehengas and dramatic trails.
One heads up about long and decorative trails, though…
You’ll look like royalty but think carefully about the practicality depending on which wedding venue you choose.
How much do Indian brides spend on a wedding dress?
If you’re looking for non-ceremony lehengas, you can expect to pay around $1,000 on average.
For bridal outfits, the average cost is $9,000 to $12,000.
Bollywood wedding outfits are more expensive at around $20,000-$25,000.
Moving on to suggestions for groom’s outfits for an Indian wedding…
Indo-Western fashion is hot at the moment.
It’s all about blending styles to make a unique statement.
And traditional dhotis are being given a glam makeover for modern celebrations.
Team them with a kurta or sherwani to blow the wedding guests away.
Plus, this super breathable and comfortable combination is perfect for an Indian destination wedding in Mexico.
What to wear to an Indian wedding as a guest
Knowing what to wear as an Indian wedding guest can be difficult if you’ve never been to a similar celebration before.
So, I’m here to help.
My first piece of advice is to go bright and colorful.
Unless there’s a theme and color scheme for the wedding, be as vibrant as you like.
When it comes to the choice of outfit, a dhoti is difficult to beat.
Traditionally worn by men, it’s become a unisex garment, and it’s comfortable and airy to wear, which is perfect for the Mexican climate.
For female Indian wedding guests, a saree made from Indian textiles is a standout choice.
A sharara is also amazing for its fun and comfortable design and can easily be paired with a crop top.
For male Indian wedding guests, a vibrant and colorful kurta is an excellent choice that can be paired with a pajama, churidar, or dhoti.
Bandhgala Jackets are band-collared jackets that also come as part of a suit.
In the humid climate of Mexico, it makes sense to pair the jacket with a kurta or formal shirt so you can remove it if you get too hot.
Any male guest who chooses to wear a traditional sherwani for an Indian wedding should opt for a plain garment or one with light embroidery, as the more heavily patterned versions are reserved for the groom.
Finally, a top tip for Indian wedding clothing is to stay clear of black unless otherwise advised, as it’s considered to be unlucky or badly timed.
6. How to Choose Vendors for an Indian Wedding in Mexico
Many resorts provide everything you need for your wedding, and most also have local vendors who they work with.
However, if you want to add a personal touch to your Indian wedding in Mexico, you may want to hire other vendors for your celebrations.
Searching online is a great way to find the best vendors to use.
Head to Instagram and use hashtags to find popular decor designers, florists, and photographers.
Pinterest is also an excellent place to get some inspiration.
And don’t forget to check reviews.
I’d also like to give a shout-out to local vendors we love.
Check out the gorgeous decor solutions of Kay & Tee that add an original touch to your events.

For photography, we love Moni & Adri Weddings images.
They’re pretty incredible, as you can see.
Don’t forget that you’ll usually have to pay an outside vendor fee if you hire external vendors.
This fee is usually between $100 and $1,000 per vendor.
If you have any questions about hiring vendors, we’re happy to help as part of planning your celebrations.
7. What Documents Do You Need to Marry in Mexico?
Many couples we work with choose to have a symbolic ceremony in Mexico.
You can also choose to have a legal civil ceremony at your destination location.
If you choose to do this, you must have certain documentation.
The documentation needed for a legal marriage in Mexico is:
- A completed marriage request form
- Original birth certificates and copies translated into Spanish
- Valid passports
- A prenuptial certificate with proof of HIV status and blood type
- Divorce and death certificates, where applicable
- Valid tourist visas
- Original ID for four witnesses, together with copies of this ID.
