Rotary Club Charity Golf Tournament

On Saturday November 1, 2014, Rotary Club of Playa del Carmen Seaside will host their second annual Charity Golf Tournament, the Rotary Seaside Golf Classic presented by Tequila Barrel, at the Grand Coral Golf Club.

Beginning at 8:00am, the tournament will be a non-handicap scramble with a luncheon and Gala Prize ceremony following. Proceeds from the event will benefit Seaside Rotary’s ongoing programs and initiatives in the Playa del Carmen community.

Since receiving its charter in September 2012, Seaside Rotary has partnered with and supported several worthwhile organizations including KKiS – Keeping Kids in School, Casa Yoliguani, Cruz Roja (Red Cross), DIF Solidaridad, Christmas Dreams and Kicks4Kids. The club has also worked together with the local Municipal government to spruce up a local park and recreation space and most recently helped to coordinate a donation of over $500,000 USD worth of essential medical equipment and supplies for the new Red Cross Hospital in Playa del Carmen. “Despite the inclement weather, last year’s tournament was a huge success bringing in over 70,000 pesos. Not bad for our first major fundraiser!” remarked Seaside Rotary Club President Scot Lyall “We were delighted with the support we received from local businesses whose generous contributions are essential to our work in the local community.”

The tournament organizing committee is offering a variety of sponsorship opportunities to support this fundraising initiative. Individuals and local businesses are encouraged to support this charitable event with monetary donations and by providing prizes for the longest putt, longest drive and closest to the pin contests.

Significant prizes are being provided by OHL Classic at Mayakoba, Grand Coral Golf Course, Valentin Imperial Maya, Fairmont Mayakoba and El Taj Condominiums among many others.

This year’s tournament is sure to be an exciting event with excellent attendance providing excellent exposure for participating businesses.

Rotary Club of Playa del Carmen Seaside is Playa del Carmen’s newest Rotary Club and welcomes both men and women. The Grand Coral Golf Club in Riviera Maya is located less than 10 minutes drive from Playa del Carmen. The Nick Price design offers 18 holes range from 165 yards to 560 yards and offer various degrees of challenge in a lush tropical environment. The course was designed to incorporate the existing surrounding environment and maintain the the wildlife and their habitat.
