Going out for breakfast in Playa del Carmen is one of our favorite things to do. The hot coffee, the fresh croissants, huevos a la Mexicana (scrambled eggs with peppers, onions and tomatos), chilaquiles - the list can go on and on.
Here are a few of our favorite spots for breakfast....
5th Avenue and 34th St.
This authentic French bakery offers crispy buttery croissants that melt in your mouth along with delectable coffees. They also have a full breakfast menu if you prefer. You can't miss trying one of their pastries(or you'll have to take one to go). They also offer lunch and dinner.
38th Street near 1st Ave.
Set in a tropical garden surrounded by flowers and lush vegetation, this is a favorite Playa del Carmen restaurant for locals and tourists alike and can get quite busy. The setting alone will enchant you. They offer a wide range of healthy breakfast options, Mexican specialties and fresh fruit juices. La Cueva is also open for lunch and dinner and has a liquor license.
30th St. btw Constituyentes & 20th Avenue / Juarez & Carretera, next to Evolve Gym.
El Nativo restaurant is known for its liter juices and fresh fruit. The El Nativo slogan is “from the village, for the village”. Local Mexican specialties, fresh produce, and delicious healthy and not-so-healthy options. Try the chilaquiles with salsa roja, one of our favorite treats! They are open daily through until midnight.
14th & the beach at El Taj Condos.
Breakfast with a view and the sand between your toes. Buffet or menu available with Mexican and American style breakfast choices. Fresh tortillas, home baked goods, freshly squeezed orange juice and more. Open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
30th Avenue corner 20th Street.
Tucked in next to the DAC fruits and vegetable market is this cozy restaurant. All their produce is provided by the neighboring farmer's market so the result is fresh, delicious and healthy choices. They have quite a few vegetarian and vegan options available. In addition to the yummy food they have fresh juices and smoothies galore. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
5th Avenue between 10th and 12th.
This is actually a chain of restaurants as there are many through Mexico. They do not use any artificial colors, flavors or conservatives in their food options. They do have optional organic menu items including organic eggs. Breakfast choices include fresh fruit, omelettes, pancakes and a few Mexican breakfast options. They are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
