We try to eat vegetarian most of the time, so we know the best vegetarian restaurants in Playa del Carmen. Here are the ones that have made our list!
19th South Street between 80th and 85th Avenue
A community center/restaurant/art gallery/whatever you want it to be. El Hongo is an off-the-beaten-path gem that provides nourishment for eyes, soul and belly. The kind people at El Hongo work a lot with the local kids as well, so if you're looking to donate any children's books non-plastic toys, this is a great place to do it. Plus, the food is as great as the location itself. (Note: some non-vegetarian items are also on the menu).

Eat fresh and organic in Playa del Carmen. Healthy choices for breakfast, lunch and dinner and although this restaurant is not 100% vegetarian it has lots of options. Fresh juices (including wheat grass shots), salads, sandwiches, pasta and burgers are just some of the items on the menu. It is also pet-friendly and had a kids area so the whole family is welcome.

Making good falafel is an art. And while there are many pretenders out there, Falafel Nessya does it right. Crunchy on the outside, soft in the middle, and a delicious tahini sauce and vegetables to create that incredible fusion of spices and flavors that is falafel. Add in some delicious hummus and fresh salad, and you have found an affordable and non-meat alternative to eating out in Playa del Carmen.

Balche is all about the helping people choose a healthy lifestyle through natural, organic, chemical-free products. You'll be happy you ate here, and so will your body.

This Mexican chain has been serving up healthy options for over 30 years, long before it became mainstream. What 100% Natural lacks in a small business atmosphere it makes up for in terms of both quality and location. Situated in the heart of Fifth Avenue, you can indulge in some people-watching and some delicious yet healthy meals all in one sitting. That's what we call win-win.
