Shopping Malls

The shopping malls here are few and are very small compared to our North American standards. We do have a few areas you can go for shopping.

CENTRO MAYA

Centro Maya is located on the main highway as you are driving south out of Playa del Carmen. This mall includes the City Club, Soriana (grocery store), a movie theater, there are go-karts located in the parking lot. There are about 20 small shops including a swimwear shop, sports store and a large shoe store. Something to do on a rainy day. 

PASEO DEL CARMEN

Paseo del Carmen links Playacar Phase 1 with the south end of 5th avenue. You can walk through the open air mall along cobblestoned paths through to the different shops. Stores include: Zara, American Apparel, Diesel, Bershka, Ultrafemme, and a Harley Davidson shop. You can also get a Starbucks fix while you are there.

PLAZA LAS AMERICAS

Plaza las Americas is slightly larger and located in the suburbs. You will find a Sears, a small casino, a movie theater, and Chedraui (grocery store) in addition to the smaller shops. They have underground parking, a food court and recently added a Krispy Kreme donut stand. 

 

QUINTA ALEGRIA

The newest mall in Playa del Carmen. Located on the corner of Constituyentes and 5th avenue, this mall is 3 levels and quite modern. Shops include Forever 21, the Body Shop, Victoria's Secret, Sanborne's, American Eagle Outfitters, Aldo, Nike, Hurley and more.

 

SHOPPING IN CANCUN

If you are a serious shopper, you may want to consider a day trip to Cancun. Large, modern shopping malls are available in both the hotel zone and the city center. Our favorites include La Isla, the factory outlet mall and Plaza Las Americas.

LIVERPOOL

Head south on the highway leaving Playa del Carmen and you will find a Liverpool department store. Complete with a restaurant, all departments and a candy section!
